Airborne particles are deposited on the surface of documents and books. This contamination has negative effects and accelerates the aging process of paper, which becomes visible in a yellowing of margins and a weakening of the paper. Some of these contaminating particles are of biological origin, and they are a time bomb when they meet with the adequate environmental conditions for the development of mould and microorganisms.
Another source of danger for documents arises from the acidity of the paper or from the acidity of the folders they are kept in. Metal staples and eyelets, fabrics, clips, sellotape and low-quality auxiliary papers are other elements which often damage and shorten the life of documents.
We offer conservation and mechanical cleaning services by an experienced team of restorers with the use of safety vacuum equipments. We remove, replace and separate the harmful elements in your documentation and put them into folders and boxes of conservation paper.
